Beautiful

Beautiful. An excellent piece. I really liked it and the feeling behind it was really strong. You carried volumes of meaning in this piece, and that's what I think every musician should inevitably be trying to do.
It's nice to see a fellow believer here.
Again, beautiful piece.

SatoDraygonFist2 responds:

Thank you so much. :-) Really and truly. Your time in listening, and your review just makes me glow. Like, really. I've got this awesome golden aura right now and its cool.

Hmmm

This is a good peace. It fits the theme, which is good, but it does suffer quite a bit from monotony, simply put, you really need a lot more variation in pitch, that main strings? section was the same the whole way through, and, while in some songs that works, in this case, it killed the song. You really needed more variation in both instruments and in pitch, depth and texture to carry the feel of the song.
You had some nice riffs, but that was all they were, riffs repeated over and over and then stopped, carry out the melody, play it out, lengthen it, test different sections, expand others.
You had some drums, but there was a definite lack of drums in this, add a few more, use different ones to establish a beat and then carry it on. Along those lines, this type of song generally needs a strong beat, with those strings and other instruments doing sweeping 'plains music' it didn't quite carry the whole idea. More articulation and stronger emphasis on certain beats, eg the fourth would have improved it a lot.
The starting, strange harp? section really did not fit. At all. That should have been scrapped.
Otherwise it was not too bad.

tl;dr

Good

Very good. I'd say everything that nintesu said, however, it's the little niggles that'll get a ten out of me these days. Good stuff, hope to hear more.

DukeLukeProd responds:

Totally agreed, for a 10/10 a song has to be perfect, this submission is far from it. Thanks!

Wow!

Wow! Great job there! Love the vocals! This is something that wouldn't sound out of place in a full feature film score. 10/10 and 5/5 from me!

paradoxphenomena responds:

Finally glad to see that you didn't have a comment to make about loud drums. Though maybe you did think about it and didn't mention it. Either way thanks for your continued reviews on my pieces. Very much appreciated.

Great!

You took my advice! And listen to it! Great job! This sounds really good, you've moulded the different elements of the song together really well and created an excellent whole.
Now for the thunder eh.... ;)

paradoxphenomena responds:

Thanks for the continued reviews of my piece Krayon. I will continue to do my best and listen to other reviews to the best of my ability.

Definitely very good!

I just checked out the program you used... expensive... What deal did you manage to get? I'm very interested. Excellent job, considering its capabilities your musics gonna go a long way. Good luck! Looking forward to hearing more!

race1 responds:

They had a deal some time ago where you could get three libraries for 795 dollars or so. Alone each one was about 400 each. So taht was a nice deal.

I think they got rid of all thair Native Instruments powered stuff and are switching to this thing called the PLAY engine. They don't have Ra in PLAY yet but hmm... I like the NI powered stuff as it seems to run quite well.

Save up some money... and get an extra hard drive... they have sales that are pretty good. Buy one get one free type sales.

If you're looking for an orchestral library, PLAY SILVER is pretty good for a start. I'd check that out.

Hey!

Hey, Krayon, remember me? Your worst fan, I mean, critic :). Naah, just kidding, excellent job there, you've come a long way since you started, for one, the depth and feeling behind your songs has improved a lot. I really love this song. It's been a long time since I've been able to nit-pick any of your songs and spread a little bit of contentiousness amoung the better artists here, but hey, we can't have everything. Good luck wherever you go, We'll miss your contributions to this site.
Again, good luck, God bless.
Krayon.

Winterwind-NS responds:

save the kind words for later, I ain't leaving just yet
but I do appreciate it, thanks man.
and yeah, I remember you hahah

Hmmm

For an improvement, this is better, but the song can still go a long way. You have a nice tune there but the instruments could be a bit better and you might want to see if you can create a bit more sense of flow, as in, each note is currently singularly played without any blending from the previous one.
The flute should probably be made a bit louder and clearer as I couldn't hear it properly, even with my headphones on max volume.
Try adding in some strings, they would complement it nicely and a slow rolling drumbeat would be perfect!
Good luck, see if you can find some better instrument samples, there's usually some decent ones lying around the internet if you look hard enough.

ShadowLor responds:

Thanks for the review!

Hmm...I've tried both of my computers and can hear the recorder fine. Maybe my computers are just magic lol.

Thanks for the suggestions about the strings and percussion, I think that would go nicely!

I don't really know what sort of program I should use. Finale only exports as midi, and Sibelius can't do dynamics all that well. I don't want to spend 200 dollars on a minor hobby, or seven hours patching things together. I welcome recommendations.

Much hope

Man!

Man! I need to pay more attention. I downloaded a coupla your songs a while ago but never really payed much attention. I'm sorta kicking myself right now. Just listen to your first Kyrie Elison, you should do a collaboration with Lady Arsenic, the two of you could come up with something incredible.
Considering the stuff that's been posted on the classical section lately, perhaps you should stick a few in there.
Great job!
*Continues to scrounge around for more music that might have potential for mods and movies later...

Bezo responds:

Thanks. I'm not familiar with Lady Arsenic, but I will look her up. I have been so...unprolific lately that it makes me sad.

Hmmm

This was decent but for the very dramatic circumstances and theme, this piece doesn't even come close. All those light, bright strings and whatnot really failed to bring out a sense of impending doom or action, they just seem... light... and fairylike.
You might want to really pull out the feeling by adding a lot of bass background and undertones that contrast with the foreground strings etc. Have a middle ground as well, something that carries the sense of doom and feeling behind what this song is trying to portray.

LacrimosaMuse responds:

first off, im gonna ignore the fact that ever review uve given has been ignorant in some way shape or form, i dont use strings in this song, if u read the first review, even a deaf man would be able to notice that, theres tubas shouting a D5+8 at FF, baritones doing the same, melophones, low organ manual, and organ pedals, fix ur subwoofer and stop giving ignorant reviews, learn music if u want to critique it

I'm a Christian, and I'm perfectly willing to debate theology if you want.
