Great!

Amazing, all your music is the same excellent quality! What programs and samples do you use?

KaiyotiMusic responds:

Thanks Krayon, I use very customized samples. Some old AKAI and ROLAND material. Some self-recorded stuff. And then a whole bunch of emulative synth sounds.

Great!

Excellently done! I really like the fact that you have an excellent grasp of orchestrals. Keep it up.

Wow!

And I thought I wasn't going to see another author who put up music like DarkLordOblivion's way back.
Yeah I know he stole it, but the music was brilliant! this is the closest I've heard to that so far. Absolutely brilliant! I can't even nitpick it!

KaiyotiMusic responds:

Thanks for the feedback.

Great!

Excellent job! Just needs more on those drums! MORE! No but seriously, do you have any idea how much this would improve if you could get those drums to thunder? Sort of loud and earthshaking like. It does depend on the drums though. I always found that the African Djembe did an excellent job of that, you only need about ten and already you can hear them a kilometre away. A faster, louder beat on top of the one you've already got would be great, a sort of rolling thudding beat, sort of like, dakadakadakadakadakadakaDOMMMbrrrraka dakadakadoomdakdakadaka.... at around 240 beats per minute or similar.

paradoxphenomena responds:

Lol thanks again for the insightful review. I'll remember your suggestion for the next release.

Great!

Great job! Unfortunately though, you did fall slightly short though, it's FL Studio, you can't get a good orchestration out of that. So I'll forgive you till you get a good orchestration program, then I want you to sit down and think really hard about a coupla things:
Firstly, this song needs LOTS of instruments, when I think of this piece I think of a 300 piece orchestra.
There was a big issue of clarity here, don't get me wrong, this is a definite improvement on the last one but it can do with some more improvements, clarity ones mainly, the strings are muddy and so are the rest of the orchestral bits, the flutes sing but that's it.
When you do this one again, and it's too brilliant not to, bring out the clarity more, you need the bass brass creating a sorta humming undertone and then the strings and higher brass soaring with the flutes. Create several separate melodies based on the real one and weave them in and out of the flute bit, remember to keep it light, light and airy, more so than this, I want to hear every indiviual instrument and the whole at once. This song needs complexity. Also, those strings really need to be louder and have more of a crescendo, they need to build till they are loud! Think, Morrowind buildup.
Drums, those drums suck, no offense, but they really sound bad, you need to use drums closer to tampani for this song, low deep long booms is what you want for this song, not that hollow thing. The beat's about right, it needs to flow more, have a bit more alternation on the beat strokes, at the current time it's all the same. Also that shoop drum sound, whatever it is, take it out! Crescendo the drum, punctuate each 4th beat etc if you have to, but take that out!
Oh yeah, one last thing, if you ever pick up a really good sounding choir, it would go brilliantly with this song. Whatever you do though, make sure it is good, the human voice is a beautiful thing, don't cheepen it. Hey LadyArsenic here does vocals!
Do not under any circumstances try to make the changes I've suggested with FL Studio, I've seen it, it isn't capable of the sophistication I've suggested. However, Miroslav Philharmik does do a good job of that.
You really did a great job improving the song, but me being me, I can't let a gem drop by and not comment on improvements, this is one of those, every time you do a redo, I'll probably check it out and suggest changes; however, if you get it perfect, =)...
Don't drop this project, wait till you have a good set of orchestrals and a good orchestration program then do a redo, it can still do with some major overhauls. Check out Liberi Lunerum if you want an example of weaving, that song's brilliant.

studio-nightbird responds:

WOW...beggest comment I have ever recieved in both my music and flash animations. Sorry i can't do the same on the reply. But hey I'll see what i can do.

I only use one plugin for this intire song and use some sounds effects (drums) that are used in my flashes. There is however a program I so do want by EastWest. Its just the program is SO big it will require me to buy a new computer to handle it. The EastWest program comes with the most advanced vocal sound ever. When I get my hands on it. I will be remaking most of my songs with it ;). I thank you for the great advice.

Hehe as for Liberi Lunerum. His song is in the game 'World Of Dreams' along with my song 'Tokiha'. ;)

take it easy

Great!

Brilliant! I'd give this a ten if it wasn't for the fact that this song needs a redo. No seriously redo it, there's so much more you can do. Here's what I'd do:
0:29- 0:30 start a drum going, simple rolling, slow, make it resound, something like, donnn dadommdomm daaadadadommm or similar.
0:45 start a strings buildup, low chellos and some brass basses following the main tune, build in little waves, back and forth, sort of receed and build like the sea.
Keep building to a massive crescendo in 1:35 complete with higher strings and brass, try listening to the Morrowind main theme tune which can be downloaded here: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads /downloads_music.htm
Remember to keep the everything airy, it's one of the main themes of this song.
Then everything goes silent and the flute or whatever that instrument is rings forth
at 1:50ish bring in the strings, weave them in and out of the flute and then bring in the drums again at 2:20ish
Build another slow crescendo but this time don't make it reach its peak, slow it right down and give a nice calm finish with all the instruments sounding.
This song could also be a lot longer.
Good luck, I'm gonna be waiting for you to finish this song.

studio-nightbird responds:

you sir, Have yourself a deal. I'm going to take your advise. mix it with my own. and Redo all of this. Thanks for the really great construction review. ;)

Nice Work.

This is actually very good, I really like the way you've managed to combine the electronic with classical. What program did you use? Those are some excellent drums, although they could do with some improvements:
When the drum sections went solo they were just a touch on the bland side of things, the sound and choice of drums was excellent but if you want them to shine you really have to use several different beats and make them really work together. Make them THUNDER! Drums can shake the earth, these ones were quite a bit this side of that. I know you did have several different types, which was great, you sorta missed the middle guys though. You had the lighter backing and the heavy bass but the middle ones were missing, you needed to have a middling range drum that had a smoother beat to fill in the gaps. It's hard to discribe, but take it from me, drums sound amazing when you really work through the beat and have several different beats and drum types going, I've heard it before. They only had about 10 drums but I think they would have caused a minor earthquake if they'd been any louder. I think what this piece needed was a rolling heavy, loud beat, no I'm not talking about the one you've already got, but rather, on top of what you already have.

paradoxphenomena responds:

I will work on the drums as you seem so passionate about them and it does sound like a great idea.

Wow!

Wow! I don't give tens out so much anymore! I haven't seen you around all that much... I've been here for a while, this is very impressive though. It actually really reminds me of Fable, very similar composition and style.
One minor crit though, I'm a lover of drums, and this could do with a bit more in the drums section. Otherwise its brilliant.
Good luck wherever you go, you've certainly got the creativity!

HAHAHAHA!

Man you stole so many riffs that this song doesn't even follow a logical path... It sounds more in line with a demo reel or just random improvisation.
Please either get bette recording stuff or fiddle more with the song before putting it up, the general sound level was too loud and you had no dynamics. Control your stroke to soften that raw strumming sound. Man, you can play a guitar... but who ever taught you the finer points because you have none of that.
Next time when you post a song, actually make it have a tune instead of just a random selection of random riffs, control the way you play, make it more subtle, not quite so.... out there.

Good, very good.

Very good, I really like the way you've done this, especially the drums! Great use of instruments, choirs etc, just a few niggles though.
The drums could be a bit smoother in a couple of areas, or more correctly you should have several different types of drums going. The one's that you have don't go well as a complete rhythm set, but rather go better a tempo setter, one beat per bar sort of thing, you should have another set of drums on top of that acting as the beat section that carries the melody a bit more, perhaps a rolling tampani with a set of smaller djembe, or similar african type drums. That would be much better.
Otherwise it's excellent.

EvilRaccoon responds:

Yeah, you are absolutely right, I shoulda had more percussion in there. Thanks for your helpful comments. I appreciate the time taken to write them. :D

I'm a Christian, and I'm perfectly willing to debate theology if you want.
